Bön Wisdom-Deity Practice

Though Bön has its own system, it too takes "wisdom" as the key to liberation. Tonpa Shenrab revealed, within the "Nine Ways of Bön," various wisdom-deities who hold the sword of insight and ride the lion of wisdom, cutting the dark obstacle of ignorance—signifying that wisdom is not rote memory but the sharp sword that pierces delusion.
When the priest practices the wisdom-deity, he sees the deity radiate light from above the dedicatee, its sword severing their dull darkness so the mind opens. Practicing this for students or for those stuck at a crossroads gives the purest support—not answering for them, but lighting the lamp of innate wisdom they already hold.

- **Ocean of wisdom.** Practice per the ritual, planting the seed of wisdom for the dedicatee.
- **Dedicate and settle.** Dedicate all merit solely to the vow—wisdom bright, ignorance cut.
You need not be present—only wish that one "may wisdom arise" in your heart; the priest's practice hones that sword for you.
