Guardian Buddha · Amitābha (Dog · Pig)
🪷缘起
Amitābha, Buddha of the Western Pure Land, is taught in the Longer and Shorter Sukhāvatīvyūha Sūtras, who made forty-eight vows to receive all who call his name. His name means 'infinite light, infinite life.'
🔮寓意
In Chinese custom the Dog and Pig are guarded by Amitābha. Infinite light is wisdom; infinite life is enduring merit. Wearing it recalls a generous, peaceful heart over quick gain.
📿形制
Forms the meditation or welcoming mudrā, golden-red body on lotus; pendant, card, mala bead.
💬答疑
Q: Recitation vs wearing? A: The image is a focal object for recollection; birth in the Pure Land rests on faith, vow and practice, not the pendant alone.
