🪷缘起

Vairocana, the 'Great Sun,' is the foundational Buddha of Esoteric Buddhism (Mahāvairocana Sūtra, Vajraśekhara Sūtra), embodying the 'wisdom of the dharma-realm'—illuminating all like the sun at noon. Both mandalas place him at the center.

🔮寓意

In Chinese custom the Goat and Monkey are guarded by Vairocana. All-pervading light means innate awakening; the central lord means all dharmas return to one. Wearing it recalls turning inward to a clear mind.

📿形制

Forms the wisdom-fist or teaching mudrā, white or golden, on an eight-petaled lotus; also card, pendant.

Q: Vairocana same as Śākyamuni? A: Exoteric Buddhism shows Śākyamuni as the manifestation; Esoteric Buddhism shows Vairocana as the dharma-body—one awakening, different aspects.
